Wind of Change
Yesterday, I took another walk up to the View. It was hotter than the past few days and later in the day, and there was debris and twigs and leaves scattered all over the sidewalks. The wind had blown aggressively the night before, and there was almost no place without branches or leaves all over the place. I wondered if it would especially messy on the concrete viewing area at the top of the hill. There were leaves on the path that lead up, and I figured it would be at least a little messy up there.
When I got to the top, it was perfectly clean. The wind had blown but the trees at the top of the hill looked completely untouched. It almost felt like it had been prepared for me to be up there, quietly listening to the Holy Spirit for a little while in the day. I thought that was pretty cool. As I was up there, the wind picked up and blew hard. It shook the trees at the top of the hill and blew loud enough that it was almost howling in my ears.
I felt like I was hearing the voice of the Lord through that wind — that just as no single tree was spared from the force of the wind in the night, nothing would be unmoved by the wind of change that would be blowing through. It would not just be my personal prayers and hopes answered, but the hopes of every Christian in the county and across the nation.
As I descended the hill, all the way home I heard “After today, it will be different.”
I don’t know how, or what that will look like. I know it’s difficult to even imagine that for some people, struggling with financial uncertainty, family issues, or natural disaster. But if the Lord told me that everything would be different in quiet, but certain ways in my own life, I believe that same happy, howling wind of change is blowing toward the United States and the rest of the world.
I believe that the end of this year will not even be recognizable from what was before.
