Whoever Would be Great Among You…

Jesus says this to His disciples, after they have an argument about which of them is the greatest:

“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25–28)

Jesus is telling them that if they have a calling, a urge to be a leader and to help others as leaders — they need to be willing to serve those they have been given the responsibility to lead. They do not rule with an iron fist and demand they follow impossible, arbitrary, suffocating rules that they themselves don’t need to follow.

A wise, even-handed, passionate and patriotic person is what the Founding Fathers expected from their leaders. They gave a great and burdensome power to the people, to choose who represented them. The American people don’t always choose the best leaders, but it is always up to those with authority to act appropriately, for the people whom they serve.

Today, a so-called Speaker, one who is supposed to represent her people, has failed spectacularly in every way. She has failed to be a good leader, and has abjectly violated the principles God Himself demands of ALL leaders. Her violation occurred earlier, but it is still unacceptable. Speaker Pelosi has been one of the most aggressive proponents of lock-down policies, insisting her desire to save lives. She blames everyone for anything that goes wrong or for the problems that America struggles with.

But she decided to flaunt her own “rules” and put an American business owner in an impossible situation, outside of her control. That woman’s business could be devastated by a series of fines that the city of San Francisco has utilized before — it is common knowledge what their lock-down policies are. But Pelosi decided she was worth more than the livelihood of an American citizen.

Now, she insists she is a victim of a conspiracy, a “set-up” against her. She refuses to apologize and demands that SHE be apologized to. In no sane, godly, democratic republic country should she be spared from public outrage and career ending shame. Blaming one of the denizens of your city, in the state you represented — a state you still represent, among many others, as the Speaker of the House of Representatives — for a ludicrous conspiracy theory, to do what? Get you in trouble with the press? To get likes or retweets? She’s just a woman, a single mom, and an American, trying to make a life for herself and her children!

Every sane person should see this and react in vitriol and sadness. Speaker Pelosi likes to say that Trump, Republicans, or pretty much anyone she doesn’t like is a danger to our government. She calls them liars, not to their faces but to the press. She blames them for causing unrest and violence. She demands that innocent hairstylists apologize for HER ACTIONS that might cause this woman’s hard-fought business to go bankrupt.

King David once heard a parable, a story of how a rich man stole, killed, and ate the only beloved lamb of his poor neighbor. He demanded justice against this horrible man, only to be told something heart-wrenching, something that stopped him cold:

“You are that man!” (2 Samuel 12:7)

Speaker Pelosi, I would say the same of you. I’m not being crazy and accusing you of covering up a murder and an act of idolatry. What I am saying is this: every single thing you hurl at your opponents, you are!

YOU are the liar. YOU are the one who causes unrest with rhetoric and flowery speeches. YOU are the danger to the American people. Not because you stand for some violent threat or are somehow an “enemy of the state” (like you have called others). It is because you don’t care about us. You don’t care about the American people. You only care for your own image.

That is evil, idolatrous, and un-American. If you have a shred of decency in you, you would apologize. You would apologize to this woman, to the city of San Francisco, to California, and to the United States of America.

I could also mention your support for the wanton destruction of human life. I could mention that you had the audacity to claim to be a devout Catholic when you aren’t in mourning every time you and your party add more money to be sent to the institution that slaughters infants and sells their parts for money. How can you keep yourself together, claiming to be a Christian, and defend the butchers who murder God’s most beloved creation?

I could mention how you shamed the brave men and women who serve and protect our federal buildings by calling them Nazi soldiers, who were renowned for their brutality and violence, including the horrific murder of officials Hitler wanted killed. How could you say such a thing about the people who protect you?

I might also include your denial of the very real danger present in the Chinese government, the same government who rules as despot over her people and has recently carted up and butchered Muslims to sell their organs. Why won’t you stand up to actual bullies and tyrants?

I could include the massive, irresponsible, debt-skyrocketing packages and bills you have relentlessly thrown out. Do you even understand the damage debt does to the generations after you?

I could mention the fact that you refused to give Joe Biden’s accuser the time of day, compared to your response in the Brett Kavanaugh case. Why won’t you lead with equal scales?

There’s a lot I’m angry with you, politically, spiritually, and morally, for doing. I’m hoping that will change.

I’m not the person to hold grudges, but if I haven’t forgotten about these things, the Lord certainly hasn’t. I believe I am feeling only a infinitely small fraction of His heartache and rage that a leader (which, by the way, is a word and idea that came from HIM) with such enormous responsibility would abuse her position so often and so blatantly. I’m not God; I won’t hold on to my personal frustrations about your actions. You have to take responsibility for yourself.

Please; for the sake of the American people and for the countless families broken by this season of overreach and closed down businesses, repent.

The world would be so much brighter and better if you would just stop, if you would cooperate, and help the President usher in peace, safety, and unity. It would be so simple, and so easy, and no one would celebrate more than me. Imagine the world you could be a part of if you dropped your demands and your agenda, and began to serve your people.

If you don’t turn this around, you will lose all your influence. You will suddenly be removed from your ivory tower and watch as more capable and more godly people (I pray) take your place as a representative. I don’t wish any harm on you whatsoever — I just want you to change.

I doubt you’ll ever see this, but I really just don’t know if you’d even care about what an American wants from those who represent him or what he wants for the only home he has ever known. I genuinely believe the Lord has good in store for our country. You live here, too. It would be a good thing for everyone else if you remembered that.
