Shining a Light
I felt an extremely strong urging from the Holy Spirit to write this. I know I am not the only Christian who feels a surge of anger and justice whenever anything related to abortion and the attempt to defend it as a reasonable science or a “human right” when it is, in reality, the ultimate robbing of human rights. But this week I have felt really drawn to read and research a little of what Planned Parenthood’s original philosophy was. This is not an attempt to attack this group, but they are the face of abortion in the United States, and they are the biggest proponent of the murder of babies (I’m going to be frank and not so nice — if this pushes any buttons or ruffles any feathers, then that’s what will happen).
First and foremost, this is what the Bible says about babies, humanity and when human life begins — despite what people may say in defense of abortion, this is what God thinks on the matter:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13–16
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
“And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,” (Luke 1:41)
“Remember that you have made me like clay; and will you return me to the dust? Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese? You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.” (Job 10:9–12)
“ But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace[…]” (Galatians 1:15)
There’s so much more, but this is why Christians get so fired up about abortion — it is something that is fundamentally against everything we stand for and everything God stands for.
The Bible does not use the word “abortion” anywhere, but the destruction of infant life, and the demonic god of abortion itself, is addressed many times — this is what God says about it:
“You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the Lord hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.” (Deuteronomy 12:31)
“You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 18:21)
“The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I myself will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech, to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all close their eyes to that man when he gives one of his children to Molech, and do not put him to death, then I will set my face against that man and against his clan and will cut them off from among their people, him and all who follow him in whoring after Molech…’” (Leviticus 20:1–27)
“They built the high places of Baal in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them, nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.” (Jeremiah 32:35)
God is explicitly clear on how wonderfully sacred and precious human life is. The Bible declares that God sees us and knows us intimately, as human beings, before we are even born. He oversees every step of human development. Those fancy names we give to each step? Zygote, embryo, fetus (which, by the way, just means “offspring” in Latin — it isn’t a scientific excuse)? God is directly involved and directly responsible, and when it comes to the destruction of these beautiful, helpless, voiceless humans, He does not mess around. Israel and Judah were decimated and punished for their horrific crimes — God says that the thought of aborting and worshiping Molech “did not even enter my mind”.
I googled a few articles regarding Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. An article written by Brian Clowes, a doctor working for Human Life International caught my eye. He wrote directly about Margaret Sanger and the national journal she founded to champion her cause of Birth Control, and included several quotes from her and from others who submitted and wrote for said journal. Everything I quote and reference can be found here:
https://www.hli.org/resources/sangers-birth-control-review-part-i/#_edn3
This is what Sanger and her peers say about human life:
“Before eugenists and others who are laboring for racial betterment can succeed, they must first clear the way for Birth Control. Like the advocates of Birth Control, the eugenists, for instance, are seeking to assist the race toward the elimination of the unfit. …” (Sanger, Margaret)
“ For centuries she has populated the earth in ignorance and without restraint, in vast numbers and with staggering rapidity. She has become not the mother of a nobler race, but a mere breeding machine grinding out a humanity which fills insane asylums, almshouses and sweat shops, and provides cannon fodder that tyrants may rise to power on the sacrifice of her offspring…” (Sanger)
“To meet this problem [of dysgenics] as a great scientist has recently pointed out, we need not more of the fit, but fewer of the unfit. The propagation of the degenerate, the imbecile, the feeble‑minded, should be prevented.” (Sanger)
“ The eugenist is very clear on the two facts which have been given you this morning: That the production of the unfit should be discouraged or stopped, and that the production of the fit should be encouraged and possibly forced.” ( C.C. Little, D. Sc)
If some of these positions sound eerily familiar, it is because, according to Clowes, Professor Doktor Ernst Rudin, Adolf Hitler’s Director of Genetic Sterilization was one of the individuals who submitted to this journal. The Nazi’s horrific destruction of any they deemed unworthy — the Jewish people, the disabled, anyone not of the Aryan race — can almost be attributed to this journal.
Clowes also writes: “In fact, Rudin’s boss, Adolf Hitler, avidly read American eugenics journals and developed his idea of an Aryan “master race” from their writers”.
This journal is the basis of the founder of Planned Parenthood. Clowes challenges anyone who tries to say that this company is different than Sanger, writing:
“ No Planned Parenthood spokesperson ― at any level ― has ever disavowed Margaret Sanger. In fact, Planned Parenthood gives its Margaret Sanger Award annually to the person that it perceives as most advancing the cause of “reproductive rights” during the previous year.” (Clowes, https://www.hli.org/resources/sangers-birth-control-review-part-ii/)
Everything in this journal is so deeply against everything the Bible says, everything that God says, about human life. Sanger and her peers believed that birth should only produce the best, the most superior — so did the Nazis. They believed that anyone with mental illness, physical illness, or history of any kind of malady in their family should never have children.
God says that human life is beautiful, wonderful, and perfectly crafted by Him. Jesus healed the sick and loved them with a fierceness that can never be measured. Abortion is about the destruction of those who cannot defend themselves, the innocent, the “weak”.
That is the foundation of abortion and of Planned Parenthood. Things may appear to be different. I do not know the exact positions of this group or their business, but, whether they know it or not, their founder was a woman who believed that only the strong should survive. That there is no use or beauty in anyone who is not perfect. That illness, sickness, any kind of genetic difference is wrong and must be eradicated. Jesus saw the sick, the unloved, the unseen, the imperfect, the “unfit” — and He died to save and heal all of them.
She would be mortified at the beautiful and wonderful and overwhelmingly happy babies who are diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Autism, ADHD — and any of the countless people who are boldly fighting with depression and any mental illness. What about the deaf, the blind, the lame? Sanger would see that any genetic possibility be destroyed, but God sees beauty and wonder and miracles.
People like Vincent Van Gogh, Steve Jobs, Emily Dickinson, Bill Gates, Isaac Newton, Nicola Tesla would be disgusting to her. These are not all Christian people, but they were diagnosed under the autism spectrum, and they were champions of change and invention and creativity. (https://www.appliedbehavioranalysisprograms.com/historys-30-most-inspiring-people-on-the-autism-spectrum/)
Who would dare to say these men and woman were useless? Unfit? A detriment to society? If Margaret had her way, there would be no sign of these people in history. Their parents would have been sterilized and the world would be just a little darker. This is the spirit and foundation of abortion — the destruction of those who are different or who are worthy of defending to the death.
I don’t want to make any attacks, but she would hate me. I am one of those who needs help, who needs defending. My body is “imperfect”. I am not the only one who has been diagnosed — there are countless millions who would be seen as “unfit” by this woman and those like her.
I am imperfect and I know that I am seen and loved. I am not only useful, but I can change the world. My voice is but one of countless billions who would shout this truth from the rooftops.
The unborn are defenseless. They have a hope and a future and a destiny. It doesn’t matter if they are born “different”. Where the world may see “unfit”, “unworthy”, “unlovable”, Heaven throws a party the instant that tiny little cell of a human is formed.
The unborn are worthy of defense and of love. The same passion we defend those who need our help the most, those who are born different and in need, the immigrant and the orphan and the widow must rise to the cause of those most in need of our protection and love. Look at what the Bible says, and look at what Margaret Sanger, the champion of abortion, birth control, and Planned Parenthood says.
Where will you draw the battle line?
