History

I was listening to Bethel Music on YouTube, and came across one of the longer worship songs that isn’t on an album (I don’t think) yet, called History. It was a longer song, and I listened to it all the way through, as I was doing other things. It is one of those worship songs written from the perspective of God, and those are some of my favorite to sing and listen to, because of how encouraging they are for me.

I was really moved by the song and wanted to share it and briefly explain why I wanted to. In the lyrics, God is talking directly to us, about He was thinking about every detail about us individually, eons before Creation. That He knows how we think and talk, and knows all the quirks and differences that makes every person the person they are.

In the song, God also says that we are the most precious and treasured thing He created. That He spent so much time thinking about making us, because of how immeasurable His love is. And not just that, but He gave us His greatest gift, so that we wouldn’t be separated from Him.

The final lines of the song have the most impact, for me:

I saved words just to say to you
Before you ever met me
So take some time and hear them now
I gave you my greatest gift
My love cannot be measured
You’re my treasure, You’re my child

I was really moved and a little overwhelmed by thinking about it, and I feel like there are those who don’t know that they carry truth, and that they need to hear them.
