Doing More

Sometimes I feel like I need to do more in the world around me, to do things I feel lead to do or hear others doing for Jesus. I feel a little bit frustrated, because I don’t really have access to resources or abilities to do all these big things I want to do. I don’t always think this, but when I do, I spend a lot of time just wondering, and there are times where I feel badly, like I’m not doing enough.

But then I take a moment to really listen to the Holy Spirit, and I don’t feel that way anymore. There are things I am specially equipped to do, and to be honest, the best thing I can do is edify and enhance those things, learn more, step out in small ways whenever I can. I don’t have to beat myself up because He doesn’t. All He wants is me — is you.

I am almost certain I’m not the only person who wants to do more and be “more Christian”, and don’t know how, or if they even can. One thing we can to do is be bold enough to even go and ask a stranger at the grocery store if we can pray for them. Or, maybe you can say one encouraging thing, and that is not any smaller to Jesus. That isn’t being “less” than anyone else. It takes a lot of courage to do that one act, and I really think it brings Him just as much joy as those who sell everything they have and go off to serve and love entire nations.

I feel like this is a fear that a lot of people have or have faced, that they aren’t using what they have been gifted with good enough — and that isn’t the point. The point is Jesus, and He doesn’t want us to try so hard, he just wants us to listen. He won’t ever be angry if we don’t always do what we feel lead to do. Just take a breath and tell Jesus what we want to do for Him, and keep moving forward. Keep listening and worshiping. Respond to whatever opportunity that may be put in front of you.

Every one of us has a unique and specific gift and calling that has been put on our lives. We can’t compare it to the calling someone else may have, because that isn’t our assignment. The only we assignment we really have is to show everyone around us how much Jesus loves us, and how badly he wants them to come home.

Whatever you feel lead to do, no matter how small it may seem to you, do it. Whatever act of worship that you love doing — do it. It’s worth more than you know.
